Green tea is one of those super foods that originate in china and is credited with some of the most extra ordinary feats of bringing the weight down. It is also credited with a myriad of other health benefits. These tea leaves are steamed and dried without fermentation so that the oxidation process is severely limited. Because it contains plenty of anti oxidants, green tea is a favored drink for elderly Chinese because it is reputed to slow the ageing process. There have been other benefits reported including the fight against cancer, a good relief for arthritis, helping to lower blood cholesterol, fighting infection, dealing with heart problems and improving the general immune system.
For those who have weight issues, the caffeine and polyphenol ingredients in the products react to increase the ability to burn calories at a fast rate. Therefore green tea targets the most fundamental dynamic of weight loss. If you can reduce your calorie intake then a solid exercise regime will set you up for success in getting to control your weight. The presence of catechin also enables the body to oxidize fats at a faster rate than would normally be experienced. This means that in effect your are reducing the amount of calories you are taking while at the same time burning fat. This is a super combination which can only lead to great success in your diet program.
The dangers still remain in terms of getting complacent and believing that you are untouchable from a diet perspective. This can encourage you to start eating without restraint and you never know you might end up putting the weight back on without a single recourse. There is no magic dieting pill at the moment and the sooner we all get to used to it the better.
This is purely anecdotal but I once knew a friend who was on Chinese tea and she said that it made her very ill. She was convinced that the tea was not only draining away the fat and calories but every single food nutrient including vitamins. She did concede that she had lost the weight but she felt that the manner in which she lost the weight and the side effects made it very difficult for her to ever consider going back to the Chinese tea diet. She said that she preferred to do exercise anyway. I wonder whether any of you has had similar experiences.

A new Beginning for the 101 Diet
Welcome to the 101 diet section. This is my first posting and we will use this opportunity to invite all contributors and people who have ideals to join the blog and enter their own experiences. This is a free online community for people who are undergoing weight control programs and without their personal input we would miss out on some wonderful information.
Today I wanted to go through some general diet tips to start us off. Water is your friend if you are hoping to successfully control your weight. Some people argue that water takes out toxins from the body and helps to maintain a healthy lifestyle. However others have argued that it can dilute all the minerals within the body leading to serious health conditions and even death in some cases. Like all good things in life, moderation is the best thing. Only make an attempt to drink and if you feel ill or uncomfortable then you can make a decision to stop. Water is a lubricant as well so it might help to prevent constipation or other bowel related problems.
It is important to take safe water because you might end up really losing weight to fatal levels if you catch a water borne disease such as cholera. Water is also a great way to reduce the amount of food intake because if you eat while you drink in between mouthfuls, you are likely to get full up much faster than people who merely eat or only drink at the end of a meal. Of course the water might dilute some of the taste but it is worth trying if you are seriously trying to lose weight.
It might sound quite straightforward but it is not; Drinking a sweet fizzy drink or soda is not the same as drinking real natural water. First of all the fizzy drinks might contain additives that are not conducive to your health and wellbeing. Furthermore these sorts of drinks contain sugar which can seriously drive up your calorie intake. Although the temptation is there, it is better to resist than to undermine all dieting efforts by replacing any calories that have been shed.
A diet that contains fruit or food that is rich in water is also preferable to one that lacks water. Water melons are an example of a fruit that contains a very high proportion of fluid which could improve your water intake. The sugars in the water melon are not additives so they can be taken within moderation. Canned fruit is generally not a good idea.
